The basics

About this product

Think of this as an optional hydration step, rather than a cream or an exfoliating toner. COSRX puts snail secretion filtrate first in the formula and directs users to follow the essence with moisturizer. That gives it a clear place in a routine without requiring you to replace everything you already use.

Inside the formula

Ingredients, explained

Snail secretion filtrate

First on the ingredient list; the brand's headline ingredient. It is animal-derived.

Betaine + sodium hyaluronate

Part of the brand's hydration-focused formula.

Panthenol + allantoin

Also listed in the formula; their presence alone does not predict your skin's response.

Ingredient and formula notes

The page uses rounded 96% wording and also lists 96.3% in its fact pack. The name is not a reason to assume that 96% of the bottle is a purified active ingredient. Match your regional pack before buying.

Texture & finish

Gel-like—but is it sticky?

The useful distinction is how the essence feels after application. The three accounts below do not agree on tackiness, so 'non-sticky' is not a promise we can make for everyone.

Out of the bottle

Sarah Han and the Female Daily reviewer describe a gooey or slimy texture.

After application

Han and naurasyfaa liked the finish; Rachel Ho found it tacky and oily-looking.

What to take from that

If residual tackiness bothers you, this is a preference to weigh before buying—not a detail to hide behind a universal skin-type label.

“It's definitely tacky straight out of the bottle, but dries down beautifully—no stickiness at all, just dewy skin.”

Liked the dewy finish after dry-down. Her account is not evidence that the essence clears acne scars.

“the finish is sticky and oily looking on my skin.”

Disliked the residual feel and did not find enough benefit over moisturizer alone to repurchase. This is her personal use experience, not a finding about every user's skin.

Before buying

Would it add something to your routine?

When to consider it

  • You want an optional leave-on hydration step before cream.
  • You are interested in the texture experiences above and are comfortable with snail-derived skincare.

What to weigh up

  • You avoid animal-derived ingredients.
  • You strongly dislike a potentially tacky finish.
  • Your current moisturizer already meets your needs and you do not want another step.

This is a buying interpretation, not a personal skin assessment. Individual reactions and the products used alongside it can change the experience.

In your routine

How to use it

  1. Cleanse

    Start with cleansed skin.

  2. Apply the essence

COSRX says to use a small amount after toner, then pat gently.

  3. Finish your routine

Follow with moisturizer. The essence is not sunscreen.

Follow the directions on the version you buy.

Sizes, price & availability

A few common questions

Is it the same as Snail 92 Cream?

No. Snail 96 is an essence; Snail 92 is a separate moisturizer. Compare the routine job, not just the snail percentage.

Can it replace moisturizer?

COSRX directs users to apply moisturizer afterwards. Do not assume an essence replaces the cream that already works for your skin.

Does everyone find it non-sticky?

No. The selected reviewers describe different finishes. We have not tested the texture ourselves.

Are these Seoul Glow Edit user submissions?

No. They are brief, attributed excerpts from external publications and a community review. They are not a representative sample or a site-generated rating.
